Jingyi Wang is an artist currently living and working in Beijing. She graduated from the Film and Electronic Arts, Bard College, NY in 2018, and then pursued further studies in Fine Art at the Slade School of Fine Art, UCL in London from 2019 to 2020.
Her practice revolves around photography, film, and painting, exploring the relationships between time, memory, and still and moving images. Her recent painting works explore the survival status of non-human/beast beings in the universe, as it progresses from chaos to order. She then uses the uterus as a metaphor for the universe, and examines the process of life birth and the relationship between mother-child-uterus from different perspectives. In her recent work process, she mainly uses animation keyframes and storyboarding to create her works, which will be presented in the future through oil painting and animation.
Her recent solo exhibition including paintings and drawings was held in Three Shadows Art Centre, 3.0 Space Beijing on March 2023. Her photography and film works have been exhibited in London, the Fisura Experimental Film Festival in Mexico, the VCD in Beijing, and the Banshan Gallery in Ningbo. She also edited the documentary film "Lions, Lies, and Love", which was screened in London in 2022.
